VIRTUS //

THE REACTIVITZ

WITH A CONSTANT STREAM OF UPCOMING MUSIC, GIGS ACROSS EUROPE & THE BIRTH OF AN EXCITING NEW LABEL, THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING FOR FRENCH TECHNO STARLET JONATHAN ESTRADA, MORE COMMONLY KNOWN IN THE TECHNO ETHER AS THE REACTIVITZ...

Hello Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to speak to us at Virtus, where are you in the world right now?

Thank you for having me! Right now I'm at my home in France finishing up a new remix in the studio.

Your artist name 'The Reactivitz' is an interesting name, how did the project start and the name come about?

The underground scene always gave me a buzz and I felt a strong connection for techno when I first started to listen, so it was just something I had to be involved in.

When I was looking for a name to describe my project, I wanted something really catchy and powerful. This is how The Reactivitz is born.

You have released on some great music on well respected labels including Bitten, Toolroom, 1605, Phobiq and many more, what has been your favourite piece of music you have written so far?

Without a doubt, I would say Alone released on Sasha Carassi's Phobiq. I play this track at all of my gigs and the crowd reaction is always great. This track really represents my sound, that is to say a mix between loud drums, groovy basslines and deep melody. I have some new upcoming stuffs this year I really like too.

You recently announced that you are all set to launch your own label, tell us about the concept behind it and the upcoming releases...

During the past few years, I have released many tracks on renowned labels. I had many things in mind since a few months, so I thought that it was the time to launch my own label. The idea behind Immersion is to release music that I love, focusing on techno that mainly represents my style. I want to invite artists with a unique style to release on the label as Immersion represents the unconventional techno ;)

First release is a EP from me with remixes from Hobo and Metodi Hristov. I'm really looking forward to it. I have planned other bigs releases for the next few months but I can't say anything at the moment.

Where is the best place you have played a gig so far? You can only pick one!

I had a lot of good moments but If I have to only pick one, I would say that Melkwerg Amsterdam was the best experience I had so far. Promoters, crowd, place.. Everything was great!

What can we expect from The Reactivitz forthcoming release schedule?

Well, I would say that 2018 is looking great so far. My next releases are coming up on Immersion, Phobiq, Funk'n Deep Black and I just confirmed a new EP on Form!

Who are your favourite producers at the moment that you are really digging?

Recently, some artists really caught my attention such as Beico & MT93, Nicolas Taboada and Drunken Kong. They have a good future ahead!

When you are writing music, what is one piece of hardware or software/plug-in that you just love to use?

When i'm in the studio, I use the Arturia MiniLab MkII. I also really like the Sylenth1 plugin to write melodies.

If you could give one piece of advice to any aspiring DJs/Producers just starting out, what would it be?

Hard work is the key so keep that in mind. The most important thing is to work on your own sound plus your image and reputation. You want people to be recognizing your own unique style when you release your music
